BT-NG Thermal Bonding Machine

The MPT BT-NG is a robust, stable thermal bonding machine built on the hot-jaw principle, backed by 25 years of thermal bonding process development experience for reliable, cost-effective production of balloon and catheter components. Its small stainless steel dies feature precise temperature control and rapid heat-up times, with up to four cavities per die set depending on size, and can operate at two independent temperatures with software-controlled cavity positioning. Each exchangeable unit houses two die sets with independent temperature control and a fully automated plug-in system that eliminates manual connections. Switching between die sets is fast and precise as alignment is maintained automatically, returning the machine to full operation in seconds.

For alignment assistance, the BT-NG can be equipped with a Cognex vision camera that automatically detects part presence and alignment, projecting the image directly onto the user interface with adjustable horizontal and vertical crosshairs for easy, repeatable positioning.

The machine is fully recipe-controlled, storing temperatures, welding times, crosshair positions, and cavity parameters in a single recipe. A front-mounted turning knob switches between cavities and automatically loads the corresponding recipe parameters. Network connectivity for integration with customer SCADA systems is standard.

A servo-pneumatic axial compression unit is available as an option, applying up to 40 N of axial force during welding to aid reflow, and can be mounted on either side of the machine at the time of ordering.

Machine Versions

BT-NG-1: 1-Up version
BT-NG-2: 2-Up version to produce two products at the same time.
BT-NG-ST: Side Shift Table: Bonds proximal and distal bonds without reclamping the product.
BT-NG-LT: Low Table option to bond large OD balloons.
BT-NG-PT: Product Tray: pre-assemble the product, apart from the machine, on a separate dedicated product tray/carrier while the other tray is being processed on the machine.
